Botero on Lincoln Road

Botero On Lincoln Road

The Lincoln Road Business Improvement District (BID) and the Nader Art Museum are exhibiting 13 monumental Botero sculptures on the pedestrian promenade from November – Spring 2020. The monumental bronze sculptures by world renowned Colombian artist Fernando Botero are installed along the length of Lincoln Road between Alton Rd and Washington Ave.

“Fernando Botero is one of the world’s most iconic and recognized Masters. He has certainly earned his place in history,” said Gary Nader, Founder of Nader Art Museum. “Being around his artwork is pleasing to the eye and brings a smile to the face of all of those who see it. This exhibition on Lincoln Road will allow visitors and locals to get a closer look at Botero’s most celebrated monumental masterpieces.”

Estimated 6 million visitors accessing the promenade through the Alton Road entrance will be welcomed by one of Botero’s most illustrious sculptures “Male Torso.” Stroll further, and visitors will come across “Rape of Europa,” “Leda and the Swan,” and “Bird,” among others. Those entering from Washington Avenue will be greeted by “Adam” and “Eve” sculptures. In addition to the monumental sculptures, the Nader Art Museum will present ‘Espacio Botero,’ to further showcase the prolific artist’s beautiful paintings and stunning sculptures.

Botero, with his immense sculptures, manipulates forms, proportions, volumes, and sizes to create smooth, round, and plump humans and animals that transform their surroundings and generate an immediate response from the viewer. He once said of his sculptures, “I never give particular traits to my figures. I don’t want them to have personality, but rather represent a type that I create. My sculptures do not carry any messages, social or otherwise. What matters for me is the form, the voluptuous surfaces, which emphasize the sensuality of my work. I like the enormous size; it is the fulfillment of my longing for voluptuous round forms.”

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover

Debuting October 18 at Faena Theater, “The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover” by Unigram Theatrical is a thrilling, sadistic and immersive stage production that challenges guests to question their everyday morals and deepest human instincts through spectacular performance, world-class dining, original music, choreography and more.

Based on the critically acclaimed film by Peter Greenaway, this intoxicating revenge tragedy follows the tumultuous relationship between an ill-mannered restaurant owner, the Thief, and his Wife, who has a wandering eye. Produced in collaboration with Alan Faena, “The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover” takes place in a dazzling recreation of Le Hollandais restaurant, where guests are invited to feast with the cast as the savage story unfolds.

An extravagant, three-course menu crafted by James Beard winner and iconic Miami chef, Michelle Bernstein, will delight the senses with a playful homage to classic French and English cuisine – all with a South Florida twist and dramatic flair. Washed down with theatrical craft cocktails, this immersive dining experience blurs the lines between fantasy and reality, cast and audience, for a truly unique evening of mind-bending entertainment.

Avoid excessive noise and splashing if a manatee appears nearby. The manatee may be resting and may surface without being aware of your presence. Noise and activity may startle the animal awake, which may put it in harm’s way if it is frightened and leaves the area. Look, but do not touch the manatees. Especially do not feed the manatees. Keep hands and objects (Paddles, and other materials) to yourself. Do not attempt to snag, hook, hold, grab, or ride a manatee. Do not Pursue or chase a manatee. They usually come around to check out paddlers. Pursuing them only causes them to swim away and ruins the fun for everyone, especially the manatee.
