VKOC – Super Full Moon Party | Kayak & SUP Tour + Bonfire

Discover why Miami is called the Magic City! Enjoy a spectacular night under the starts. We will be paddling out to enjoy a spectacular sunset and watch the Miami Skyline light up! The City lights glimmer as do the stars above the Miami Skyline and Port of Miami. We will then start our way back to the Outdoor Center and watch the Full Moon rise before us. The Moonlight will guide our way back to the Outdoor Center. This month, the moon is going to be BIGGER and BETTER. Come join us for a tour and stay after for some s’mores and watch our fire spinning performers! It’ll be sure to be a night to remember!

CAN I BRING MY OWN KAYAK/BOARD/CANOE?
Yes, you can! Please be sure to RSVP ahead of time by selecting the BYOB option. All crafts are required to have a coastguard approved light. Each person on the craft must have a lifejacket accessible to them. Children are REQUIRED by law to have them all. Lights and Lifejackets are required for these paddles. No lights/lifejackets, no paddle, it’s the law. All BYOBs must be set up by the launch at least 20 minutes before start time.

TIME & PLACE:
Meet at Virginia Key Outdoor Center, 3801 Rickenbacker Causeway, Miami, FL 33149. Please arrive at least 30-minutes before your event start time. Late arrivals are non-refundable.

DIFFICULTY:
This paddle is suitable for experienced beginners. Conditions will determine the length and final route. Not recommended for first-time paddle boarding or kayaking. We will paddle at a leisurely pace.

DESTINATION:
Final destination and route are subject to weather. The lagoon is always sheltered, and the creek is calm. We’ll paddle to Norris Cut and either the beachside or the port. Both are spectacular at night. It will be dark so please, stay together. We’ll make a stop on the water along the way from which we can enjoy the sights.

AFTER PADDLE?
Absolutely. Bring something for the grill, a beverage, and a dry change of clothes. Bring something to share and be prepared to chill with new and old friends. Dominoes, music, view the lovely night sky… If you drink, you must drink responsibly. We do not sell or serve alcohol. Beer and wine are ok, but you must bring your own. Hard liquor is not welcome. Soft drinks, snacks, insect repellent, and lights are available from the park store.

RENTALS:
Kayaks, Paddleboards, and Surf Skis are available for rent through Virginia Key Outdoor Center. All Rentals include kayak/paddleboard, paddle, life jacket, and light.

Vizcaya Preservation Luncheon

On Tuesday, March 10, 2020, the formal Italian gardens at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens will be in full bloom as more than 350 guests don the latest spring fashions for the 12th Annual Vizcaya Preservation Luncheon. This event raises funds for the continued preservation of Vizcaya, a National Historic Landmark and community resource.
Presented by Messika and co-hosted by Eilah Campbell-Beavers, Swanee DiMare and Christy Martin, the luncheon honors Vizcaya’s artistic spirit in its most relatable form – fashion – by invoking elements of the estate, from plants reflected in floral hats to architectural lines drawn on avant garde pieces.
