Edgar Henao, better known as DJ EFX, began his career spinning records fresh out of high school at the young age of 18. At first, his love for turn tables and hip hop was only a hobby but quickly evolved into a lifestyle.
He began djing at house parties, popular nightclubs, and on the radio. DJ EFX traveled world-wide to perform and share his music. Today, he performs at many exclusive venues and events in Miami.
DJ EFX’s journey to become a successful DJ came with its hardship. At one point of his career, he attempted to change his identity to an open-music format under the name Henao, his last name. This identity did not align with who he really is and how he wanted to present himself musically. He needed to act fast to redeem himself and make a comeback in the industry.
Fall from Grace
To improve his DJ appearance, he returned back to his original moniker, DJ EFX. He was almost back to square one, requiring him to work even harder. He networked to meet new people and pushed to get better jobs. This drive allowed him to sign with Rockwell Talent Miami and Fenatiq Record Label. Ultimately, creating more connections in the industry and reviving his previous attempt at DJ EFX.
Through his grit and grind, he was able to recover allowing him to land some of his best collaborations and perform at top events in Miami. Recently, he performed at Nike Events for the Super Bowl and curated an event with 50 Cent. Also, DJ EFX appears on Vibe 92.7 radio every Friday and currently has a podcast in production.
Reacting to Covid
COVID-19 has also taken a toll on DJ EFX, as he is unable to perform at live nightclubs. He and his team have brainstormed creative ways to promote new music. This promotion comes largely from social media posts, Instagram TV/ Live, and Twitch. With venues being closed, this is a strong alternative to interact with fans.
DJ EFX has worked hard to establish a name for himself through…
“…hard work, never giving up, and consistency.”
This motivation and drive allowed DJ EFX to create and collaborate on new music even during these unprecedented times. His new song, “Rollin Deep” is available now on all major music platforms and was inspired by uplifting and positive feelings.
This brand-new song features artists like Yung Tory a Canadian artist, Oh Trapstar who is a Miami local, and Eugenics. DJ EFX works with Fenatiq Record Label and Sony Music. The DJ star is planning a Rollin Deep Tour in 2021, dropping new music, and creating an album called The Product.
